temporal origami

As part of Terry Knight's class, "Temporality in Computational Making," I conducted research into using hand gestures to digitally simulate the process of folding for applications in origami.

The idea was to discretize a traditionally continuous process of making in order to simulate it and create a computational model to understand it. Using Grasshopper and the Leap Motion sensor, I sought to model folding. Origami has been computed extensively, but not much has been done to understand the more fluid hand gestures of folding, and how they relate to the less discrete, and more improvized, process of free-folding and origami generation.
